Audio Project | Draft

For this audio assignment, I wanted to create a story that best emulated my personal brand and desired output to my audiences. Because my personal brand revolves around simplicity, mindfulness, and authenticity, my goal was to provide an artistic, poetic story for my listeners to experience. Considering the time constraints of this project, I was prompted to create something both impactful and short — which resulted in this draft podcast. Taking inspiration from the daily audible surroundings in my life, I crafted an story documenting the sounds and experiences that most contribute to a peaceful and quaint lifestyle, something I speak of often and promote on my social platforms. Inspiring others to take each moment as it comes and breathe through each day is something so important for our minds and bodies, and sharing simple ways to enhance these moments in our lives is something I aim to do on a regular basis. Through this podcast, I hope to creatively and productively inspire others to embrace simplicity and find peace in the everyday.

Drawing inspiration from the peaceful (and often overlooked) sounds of our everyday routines, my goal with the audible story was to create a simple, beautiful moment in time for a listener to use for reflection and reminding of the peacefulness of life. When conceptualizing the project, I revisited recent and past blog and social posts of my own, scanning for repeating themes and topics I have talked about, which all relate back to simplicity and mindfulness. Therefore, in sharing this podcast, I wanted to embody all of these elements into a creative and striking story.

The significance of the elements of my design lie in the sounds of daily experiences. I knew, firstly, that I wanted to tell a story through my work, and so drafted a poetic illustration to speak and share, and next added elements to further emphasize the verbal portion of my work. Through incorporating the moments spoken of in the story, such as boiling water, music, and the rifling of book pages, it is hoped that a listener would be fully immersed into the peaceful and simplistic story at hand. To capture these sounds, as well as my voice, my Blue Yeti Stereo Microphone was used, along with Adobe Audition, to best record the audible bits at a pleasing quality. Audition was further employed to edit and construct the piece altogether, resulting in the final product. In completing this project, no technical challenges were essentially encountered, as I am familiar with the tools I used and have been incorporating them into my work for years, however editing the separate audio pieces for the best output proved to be the most challenging. Finding the correct balance of echo, reverberation, and volume can be tricky sometimes and is something I am continually learning to be more skilled at. Overall, though, the project was enjoyable to create and construct.

Through sharing this poetic, creative story illustrating how to live a more mindful lifestyle, it is hoped that my personal brand is accurately represented and expressed to the audience at hand. The conceptualization and ultimate sharing of this work was enjoyable and learning to put together, and I look forward to adding to it in the future to create a perfected final product. By audibly illustrating the moments we experience every day in this mini audio project, it is hoped that a listener will find inspiration to listen, more often, for the little things in our routines as humans.

All audible elements are my own and created exclusively for this project.
